The Profound Meditation of the Libra New Moon

Monday evening's Libra New Moon (taking place early to late evening, or early Tuesday morning, depending on time zone) is an interesting lunation, involving close aspects from Sun, Moon, Jupiter and Uranus to Chiron, the Wounded Healer, bringing our dark places closer to the surface of our conscious thoughts. This New Moon continues the theme of relating that we have seen so much in evidence in recent lunations. That is because the New Moon is in Libra, the sign Venus rules, while Venus herself is coming close to conjunction with the Sun and Moon and is simultaneously aspected by Eris, the new planet beyond Pluto. This means that relationship is doubly accentuated right now, and with Chiron involved, the difficulties and the pitfalls of relationship also.
You are therefore enjoined to succeed somehow to find the deeper purpose of relationship in your life and in the process to find yourself as well. As you do you are leaning into manifest possibilities that will appear for you for discovering artistic passion and career fulfillment. Once you begin to more fully explore and believe in your own sense of yourself this forms the foundation for your life work, independent of other voices and the narrowness of consensus thinking. The goal is that you remain undeterred in spite of everything and embody your soul purpose going forward.
Mercury is also featured in this week's astrology because it is aspected by Jupiter and connected also to Venus by rulership. Mercury brings to our rational mental process the fruits of inspiration provided by Jupiter in trine with Uranus, including their conceptual aspects with Chiron. We are constantly learning, especially as we continue to face the material represented by Chiron, symbolizing where we have been wounded and where we may yet heal. There are likely to be walled-off territories within each of us where hurt resides that is little understood, where ancient trauma has lodged, the residue of the unfortunate wounding experiences of early childhood. Our task is to refuse to shun these difficult parts of ourselves but instead to embrace them, to no longer run away to their opposite but to integrate them with our joyful selves, although this may be easier said than done. Relationship provides one more mirror for us, and is vital in helping to work through these difficult places inside.
The Sabian Symbol for the degree of this New Moon, in the second degree of Libra, tells an interesting side of this story. It is: "The light of the sixth race transmuted to the seventh," which many proponents proclaim as "The transmutation of the fruits of past experiences into the seed-realizations of the forever creative Spirit," with the keyword of Evolution. In this symbol there are definite correspondences to these times of radical change. We all must do what we can to further the transformative evolution of our society that is in process. The bottom line is that when we go inside and discover more about ourselves and our relationships in this way, we further the spiritual life that is stirring within each one of us, and in the society itself.
