Virgo Horoscope (August 23 - September 22)
Mutable Earth. Your ruling planet is Mercury.

Things are starting to become clear, Virgo. You have felt the tides of transformation tugging at your ankles and now you're wading into the surf zone. This would be scary if it were not for what you are gratefully leaving behind in terms of life patterns that no longer work for you. You are feeling the idealization of what you might do in terms of vocation that would be a better match for your true calling, grounded in your inner world rather than anything outer. You are going for what makes sense to change and leaving the rest alone; that's good. Now you just have to muster the good fortune to be able to figure out the difference.

As the month begins, you are very focused on home and family concerns. This is an important time of the year for you, and one in which you are beset with loads of work as well as the blessings and benefits of lots of activity on the home front. This month is also a special time because your ruler Mercury will eventually retrograde, after Christmas, in your sector of creativity and self-expression, giving you a boost of energy for rethinking and reevaluating your position. In the meantime, over these first three weeks, there is opportunity to take well-considered action. The Last Quarter Moon of Tuesday, December 8th, represents a call to something larger than yourself, as you strive to reinvent your approach. You are trying to get to the bottom of who you are and what you can create. Financial issues will continue to plague you until you recognize that your security needs are truly met within your own mind and heart rather than by any external means. The influence of Spirit plays a larger role than you might have previously been willing to acknowledge, as these next few weeks, on into the New Year, will make more apparent. The New Moon that comes along a week later, on Wednesday, December 16th, presents you with an onrush of energy and fresh perspectives, emphasizing homey concerns of tribe or family and reflective of psychological root questions of the deepest variety. There is a mystical correspondence between these issues and what you feel you must do in the world in order to be truly satisfied, and you are groping toward that connection right now, the ideal of a higher calling. The week that follows, leading through the Winter Solstice of Monday, December 21st, and up to the First Quarter Moon of Wednesday the 24th, will provide much food for thought, as you attempt to overtly recognize the unconscious forces within the psyche and to take account of their influence in a relatively conscious way. This is powerful medicine, and well worth taking the time for getting it right. You might want to forget about progress for a while and just meditate of where you are headed. With your ruler Mercury retrograde for at least three weeks, actually until past the end of January when you take the period of the retrograde shadow into account, it not the time to push the river, but rather to remain introspective, and to try to be present to whatever comes along. The Full Moon and Lunar Eclipse on New Years Eve, Thursday, December 31st, will open you up to all your possibilities and perhaps be productive of sudden epiphany. This is still a wonderful world, in spite of appearances, and provides constant opportunity to transcend the merely mundane and to embrace the miraculous in daily living.
