Virgo Horoscope (August 23 - September 22)
Mutable Earth. Your ruling planet is Mercury.

This is a powerful and climactic time for you and everyone around you right now, Virgo, and this month you find yourself in the thick of it. There are important others in your life that are making their presence known to you right now, and impressing you with their formative impact upon your decision process, but in some way you also exist for yourself and yourself alone right now. You are still transforming in your sense of identity. Things that have been up in the air for a while are suddenly more concrete, although mystical as well; you are only half-way present to the outer world of events. Toward month's end you are coming into a period of time when you will be better off reflecting on your situation rather than finding solace in activity.

As the month begins, you are settling into the necessity and also the actuality of transformation. There are various stages that you have been through lately, of initial understanding that something has got to give, and of suspecting or even committing to profound change at one level of your being. Now, the reality is sinking in. The good news is that as you grow, it is your own personal creativity that you manifest. In one way you are actually making your dreams come true, while in another you are still churning over what might be and yet cannot be achieved. You are engaged in a long-term process of concretizing your thought images, turning the products of your extraordinarily clever intellect into actual manifestation in the world. Specializing ideals and imaginings, without giving much thought to working these out in the real world, can only take you so far after all. But as this climactic summer wears on, you find that actually manifesting those thought forms that are fully appropriate to your inner journey becomes more and more your focus. The New Moon of Monday, August 9th, brings up these issues and more, and highlights the essentially spiritual nature of the profound metamorphosis that you are currently engaged in. Your creative self-expression is vibrant and alive to you right now in a new way, and the compassion engendered by facing your own difficulties is extended to others around you as well. Through all this, there is a part of you that remains detached,
In-dwelling somewhere deep inside yourself, and it is this part that in the last analysis informs the actions of the other ingredients of your psyche. Like the iceberg you are nine tenths below the surface. The social and relating part of yourself is also on the go however, as indicated by the presence of your ruler Mercury in your sign. Balancing and integrating these disparate parts of yourself remains the biggest challenge that you face. With the First Quarter Moon of a week later, taking place on Monday, August 16th, you reach a minor crisis in adjusting to the realities of your situation. All that you are attempting is on trial at this juncture, and up for reassessment. This process of review and revision intensifies later in the same week, when your ruler Mercury turns retrograde on the 20th, still in your identity sector, and your thought process is turned back in upon itself. The retrograde period lasts four to five weeks when you take into account the time of the retrograde shadow, although the most intense moments are the 20th, the first week of September, and September 12th when it returns to direct motion. This is a great time to journal, and to reflect on where life is leading you, but not so good for leaping off in departures from an established plan. The Full Moon of Tuesday, August 24th, that punctuates this last half of the month is quite powerful for you, and brings all these issues very much to the fore, including the way that partnership with others contributes to your own path forward. You must beware of over-idealizing significant others in your life, but continue to acknowledge them as contributors to your most mystical form of understanding what is truly going on.
