Capricorn Horoscope for December 2017

Posted on November 29, 2017 by Henry Seltzer of ASTROGRAPH.COM

This month is an essential time for you, Capricorn, as you deal with a simultaneous call to action out in the world and to deep inner work in the private spaces of your mind and heart. You are keenly focused on future planning as the month begins, and yet also quietly meditating on what those very plans might mean for you in your very depths. This area of interior process is subtle, hidden, and yet vital for understanding your true motivations, as you are attempting to do over these next three weeks. The week beginning with December 17th is especially memorable, marking the New Moon, as well as the moment when Saturn enters your sign, on Tuesday, followed by the Sun early on Thursday for the Winter Solstice. This is a time of great presence and power, when you feel quite poignantly what it is that you have to do, and begin to act on it, trusting in your inner guidance over all others.

The following was written by this month's guest columnist Adam Elenbaas of The Nightlight Astrology School:

This month is hugely important for Capricorns because the planet Saturn will move into Capricorn right around the winter solstice, moving into your first house after several years of traveling through the sign of Sagittarius. Before this happens, Mercury will conjoin with Saturn in Sagittarius in your twelfth house and then turn retrograde on December 3rd. Meanwhile, Jupiter in Scorpio in your eleventh house will make a trine to Neptune in Pisces in your third house, and Mars in Libra in your tenth house will oppose Uranus in Aries in your fourth house, all within the first week of the month. Let’s take a look at each transit in depth.

Saturn will enter the sign of Capricorn and move into your first house around December 20th. The first house is the house of the self, health, new beginnings, and character. Here’s what to watch for:

  • A time of discipline, focus, maturing, growing up, and seriousness
  • A new beginning toned by the themes above
  • A focus on health, the bones, joints, structure of the body
  • Growing older
  • Breakdown, decay, mortality in the world, body, mind, etc
  • A time of focus, increased responsibility, and commitment
  • Important elders, older people, wiser people entering your life
  • A new beginning that starts with the removal of things that are unnecessary
  • Simplification, scarcity, economy, frugality, conservatism
  • Getting clear after a period of confusion, wandering, or ostracization
  • Getting grounded, stable, setting foundations
  • Feeling blocked, depressed, heavy
  • Dealing with the hard reality of something
  • Sobriety, melancholy, creative existentialism

Before Saturn enters Capricorn around the winter solstice, Mercury will conjoin with Saturn in Sagittarius in your twelfth house and then turn retrograde on December 3rd. The twelfth house is traditionally the house of loss, illusion, self-undoing, and the dark night of the soul. Here’s what to watch for:

  • A change of mind and heart after a period of confusion, self-destruction or vain ambition
  • A breakdown in technology or delays and challenges related to transit or travel
  • A mental, nervous, intellectual, or emotional breakdown
  • Cults, harmful persuasion, abusive rhetoric
  • Removing or eliminating things from your mind that are harming it or filling it with unhealthy images
  • A philosophical crisis
  • A crisis of belief, value, and integrity
  • Gossip and the harm it does
  • Messages from the other side, omens in dreams
  • Breakdowns of technology or delays/setbacks that hold a greater lesson for you
  • Religious or spiritual dogma and the abuse of power by spiritual leaders
  • Loss, self-destructiveness, or poor decisions and their consequences
  • A spiritual healing and inner transformation
  • Inner shadow work
  • Messengers and elders
  • Accidents or injuries related to moving too fast or being overly controlling
  • Solitude and loneliness, the gifts they bring

Meanwhile, Jupiter in Scorpio in your eleventh house will make a trine to Neptune in Pisces in your third house, within the first week of the month. The eleventh house is the house of friends, wishes and hopes for the future, allies, and benefactors, and the third house is traditionally related to siblings, neighbors, short journeys, memory, messengers, writers, communication, media, etc. Here’s what to watch for:

  • Traveling to see close friends
  • Spending quality time with siblings or cousins
  • Traveling to meet new allies
  • Being introduced to new benefactors or people who can help you
  • Requesting or enlisting the help of powerful or well-connected people
  • A positive, enthusiastic message
  • A campaign, a fundraising effort, sharing an important idea with others
  • A writing project, a new learning or educational endeavor
  • Planning for a new future, outlining a new plan or goal
  • Taking a risk with a new group of people
  • Finding groups who share your same values
  • The transformation of groups
  • Coming together with others for the sake of learning or spiritual practice
  • Renewal of faith or trust
  • A promising opportunity…something that may take time to develop
  • New media or technology projects
  • Synchronicity and divine intervention while traveling
  • Communicating your faith, beliefs, or ideas more openly and enthusiastically

Finally, Mars in Libra in your tenth house will also oppose Uranus in Aries in your fourth house to start the month. The fourth house is the house of home, family, roots, ancestry, land, property, things from the past, and the underworld, and the tenth house is the house of public reputation, authority, calling, career, mastery, and achievement. Here’s what to watch for:

· Conflicts or tension between work and home, business and family matters
· Conflicts or tension in the work place, or with authority figures
  • A new initiative at work or home, or both
  • Ancestral or family karma as a pronounced theme
  • Changes being made to your home or office
  • Moving, relocating, changing jobs or positions
  • The legacy of parents and children
  • Innovation and rebellion in home
  • Land, environment, and progressive causes related to land and environment
  • Defying the odds, transcending a legacy or family pattern
  • The reputation of the family or someone in the family, changing dramatically
  • Diplomacy in the work place
  • Dealing with inconsistencies between your public image and your private/personal life
  • Competition, aggression, hostility, bravery, and fighting for causes that are near and dear to you
