This is a month of fresh starts, Gemini, and of moving beyond old misunderstandings. You have been examining the key relationships in your life, looking for the pattern while re-assessing their value for you and your entire commitment to close connection with others. This New Year sees you emerging from that tunnel and finding transformation in these and other areas; especially the subject of intimacy with others and with yourself. Another focus of change is found in the higher purpose of your public statement. You are seeing the connection between local activity and global societal results. In the second half of the month, you are seeking a new basis for allowing intimacy to further flower, helped in part by your own deep unconscious process. Your very worldview is shifting creating greater awareness and profound learning which in turn circulates back around to provide better and more active connection with important others.

Happy New Year, Gemini! I hope you are having a wonderful holiday season and that you are feeling renewed and ready for a powerful year ahead. This month gets started with the recent ingress of Saturn into Capricorn, which happened just as we passed through the gateway of the winter solstice a few weeks ago. Whenever a planet changes signs in Sun Sign horoscopy it also changes houses. Saturn has thus entered your eighth house to stay for the next two to three years. The eighth house is a house related to our fears and anxieties about the future, as well as the reality of change, death, and impermanence. With Saturn in your eighth for the next few years you are entering a period where the opportunity to learn and grow in relationship to your own fears and worries will be quite profound. Much of the time we spend worrying about the future or living in fear is time wasted. Saturn in the eighth house may grant you a new understanding of change and impermanence, leading to greater peace and patience. As a child of Mercury (Gemini is a Mercury ruled sign), you may find that the next few years challenge you to find a deeper level of mental or intellectual focus and trust during life’s changes, especially those that leave us temporarily uncertain about the future. On the other hand, the eighth house is also the house of your spouse or partner’s income, shared resources, and passive income in general. Saturn transiting the eighth house for the next few years may mean that a partner’s finances or earning power is undergoing significant changes. Your partner might be taking on more responsibility, might be growing or maturity in their capabilities as an earner, or they might be going through a season of financial austerity. It’s also possible that you are paying off debt or developing a strategy for developing more passive income in the future.

The first of the month features the Full Moon in Cancer in your second house of your own money, possessions, and resources. A Full Moon in a prolific and fertile sign like Cancer in the second house is a good indication that there is growth in the garden of your resources. It’s not uncommon to see windfalls, raises, or potentially lucrative investments coming along under these conditions. However, a fertile Full Moon in the second house may also indicate an emphasis on bills and expenses or the temptation to live outside of your means. This Full Moon being in an opposition with the Sun in the eighth house may also bring up questions about future financial security or the balancing resources in relationships (what is mine vs. what is shared).

On January 6th, Mars will conjoin Jupiter in Scorpio in your sixth house. The sixth house was traditionally called the “joy of Mars,” and was related to military training, hard work or labor, enemies, chronic health issues, and the general suffering and labor of everyday human life. It may sound rough, but many of the world’s most passionate advocates, fighters, and servants have natal planets in the sixth house. Mars and Jupiter coming together in the sixth may indicate that you are in the midst of a labor of love this month, or that you are passionately fighting, training, studying, or serving on behalf of something you believe in very passionately. At the same time, be careful not to push yourself too hard as Mars and Jupiter may have a tendency to overdo things, and remember that it’s a blessing, win or lose, to know what you believe and to put all of your heart into whatever it is you’re doing.

On January 10th, Mercury will enter Capricorn and move into your eighth house and make an immediate conjunction with Saturn. You might be signing important documents, or making important negotiations or contractual agreements at this time. You might receive a challenging piece of news, or you might find yourself thinking very seriously about what you do and do not want to be committed to in the future. Alternatively, a spouse or partner might be negotiating something, or taking on more responsibilities at work. Communication might be more serious, and you may find yourself dealing with some general anxiety about the future. Remember to trust the Universe and try, as much as you can, not to act from a place of fear.

January 16th is the date of the Capricorn New Moon, also taking place in your eighth house, and in conjunction with Venus. Issues of intimacy, renewed depth researches and personal transformation will be dramatic at this time, and continue throughout the latter half of the month.

On January 17th, Venus will enter Aquarius and move into your ninth house of religion, spirituality, beliefs, higher learning, and long journeys. You may find that you are drawn to religious, political or mystical artwork or creative projects at this time, or you may find yourself experiencing or yearning for a deeper spiritual connection with a close friend or partner. You might be considering traveling abroad to see someone or something that you love, or you might be endeavoring to study something new or to deepen your relationship to your spiritual or philosophical beliefs and practices. The 9th house Venus brings faith and trust in something bigger than ourselves, but Venus in Aquarius is also a highly intelligent Venus that will likely appeal to your own intellectual nature!

On January 26th, Mars will enter Sagittarius and move into your seventh house of love and relationships. You may find that you are eager and ready to compete, spar, debate, or play rough with close friends or lovers at this time, but you should also be careful of power struggles, bullying, and general irritability in relationships. This is a transit that could also signal that someone Mars-like is entering your life right now, perhaps someone competitive, domineering, exciting, bold, or fiery. Mars in your seventh house may signal increased passion, lust and sexual desire at this time as well. With Mars in Sagittarius it’s possible that ideological or philosophical conflicts or debates within relationships, along with a kind of vibrant sexual tension, are highlighted right now.

Finally, the Lunar Eclipse in Leo on the 31st also contributes to your relationship ideas and process, as well as promoting a mystical feel regarding career choices that you might be making, or make later in the year. Just remember, to the extent that you remain philosophically “undecided,” or “uncommitted,” you may at times attract people with incredibly passionate, and sometimes even dogmatic, beliefs. It’s a good time to get clear about your own beliefs and the way they should play out in matters of career and profession, and in regard to your closest relationships.
