Libra Horoscope for September 2018

This is another month of transformational power, Libra, when you are consolidating and integrating the lessons learned through the events of a rather intense summer. Your sense of who you are and where you stand is optimistic and expansive, and yet your consequent activity and future planning remains confused and somewhat up in the air as you contemplate major changes to the way you operate. You have been reexamining the fundamentals of your creative self-expression and how to make your most significant contribution to the surrounding society. In attempting to thus refine your mission statement, partners play an important role, helping you to see where your true values lie. There could be old patterns of behavior that interfere with your relationship objectives, stemming from ancient trauma; and these have also come up for review and potential adjustment. A new day is dawning for you during the course of this monthly cycle, and extending for the next several months, so that by year’s end you will barely recognize yourself.

The following was written by this month's guest columnist Adam Elenbaas of The Nightlight Astrology School

The month begins with Venus, your ruling planet, traveling through your home sign of Libra in your first house. Mercury will then make a sextile to Venus, culminating on September 3rd, from the sign of Leo and the eleventh house of friends, allies, groups, and dreams. It’s a great time for finding agreement with others, for using your charm and natural diplomatic skills to find harmony in the groups you belong to, or to make positive, new social or professional connections. Though you typically prefer to harmonize with others, with Mercury in Leo making a smooth aspect to your ruling planet, you may be called to step out and assert yourself a little more, or perhaps stand in the spotlight and receive recognition that’s coming your way.

On September 8th, Venus in your sign will then square Mars in Capricorn in your fourth house of home and family, creating an aura of creative atmosphere with family ties, or possibly even romantic or sexual tension. It’s a particularly good time for beginning a remodel, redecorating, rearranging the furniture, or beautifying your living environment. On the other hand, because you are also with extra energy embodying Venus in your first house right now, you may be called upon to be the diplomat or peacemaker in your home environment, soothing the harder edges and intensity of Mars. Because the fourth house is also related to property and to your ancestral karma, it is a great time to consider working on the land or for exploring something from your family of origin or the past.

On September 9th, the New Moon in Virgo will fall in your twelfth house, opposite Neptune in Pisces, emphasizing a deeper and perhaps quieter or more reflective quality that will likely manifest over this lunar cycle. The twelfth house asks us to reflect and sometimes spend time alone while working through both personal and collective layers of unconscious material. The greatest gift the twelfth house New Moon is offering you right now, especially considering the opposition of the Sun and Moon to Neptune, is thus the opportunity to surrender and accept whatever is currently manifesting. You may also feel inspired to serve others right now. Remember, one of the quickest ways to alleviate our own suffering is to find ways of being of service to others.

Then, on September 12th, Venus in Scorpio in your second house of finances will oppose Uranus in your eighth house of death, rebirth, and “other people’s money.” Don’t be surprised if there are some unexpected expenses, or possibly windfalls or changes to your financial situation. On the other hand, you might be exploring the topic of finances within your relationships, or you might be questioning your values, or the values of a partner. It’s a great moment to consider alternative ideas or to find non-traditional resources that might be helpful. Venus in combination with Uranus also love to defy traditional sexual and artistic values, so you might be noticing a rebellious or highly creative energy surrounding the way you communicate or express yourself, or within your close relationships.

On September 18th, Mars in Aquarius in your fifth house of creativity, joy, and children, will get in on the fun and also square Uranus in Taurus in your eighth house. For most of the summer, Mars was retrograde in your fifth house, indicating a season of inner work related to the themes of self-expression, will power, aggression, and desire. It’s also likely that these themes combined with your creative life, the search or need for pleasure and happiness, or possibly the topic of children. With Mars now direct and making one final square to transformative Uranus in the 8th house, it’s likely that you are revisiting the same themes and topics again, but now with a refined understanding of the energies you are poised for a breakthrough.

Between September 22nd and 23rd, the Sun will pass through the gateway of the Fall Equinox and enter your home sign of Libra, to say for the next thirty days. If you’re a Libra Sun Sign, that means it’s your birthday season. Hooray! But it also means that it’s a great time to set intentions for the year ahead, or to initiate new projects with the solar light beaming through the first house of birth and new beginnings. If there is anything you are being called to adjust regarding your health or vitality, it’s also an excellent time to rejuvenate or press the “reset” button.

Finally, on September 24th, the Full Moon will fall in Aries in your seventh house of relationships, while opposing Mercury and the Sun in your first house, and creating a T-square to Saturn in the fourth house of home and family. Relationships, and the need for balance and harmony in relationships, perhaps especially at home, will be highlighted to end the month. You are naturally a peace maker, but sometimes for relationships to work we need some healthy confrontation and challenges, and this means that from time to time the scales must tip. Just remember that balance in nature represents an ideal that doesn’t really exist, because for the perfect balance to exist, nothing could be moving, and the reverse is true: everything in the material world is constantly in flux, vacillating between the opposites!
