Virgo Horoscope for May 2022

Posted on April 30, 2022 by Henry Seltzer of ASTROGRAPH.COM

This is another month of change, Virgo. Your worldview and beliefs are shifting, as well as your commitment to the idea of pushing your own deepest principles over and above what conventional thinking would dictate. Career and profession are also on your mind, and subject to review and potential revision, enormously accelerated by the retrograde of Mercury, your ruler, on May 10th. This alters in its impact on the 22nd, and again with Mercury’s station to direct motion on June 3rd, finally fading along with Mercury’s shadow by mid-June. Concurrently, issues of intimacy might also surface, perhaps connected to inner wounding stemming from early childhood when parental admonitions could have been misapplied. These are now subject to closer examination, acceptance and ultimate healing. Relationship concerns in general are an additional continued focus with the distinct possibility to be reckoned with of over-idealization or even self-deception. All in all, this is an invaluable time for independent thinking, also for journaling or discussion regarding the very depths of your psyche. You are seeking personal evolution that leads you toward a better and more fruitful integration of mind, soul, and body.

The May month begins astrologically with the Taurus New Moon on the last day of April, which is also an eclipse. This may bring opportunities for learning or travel in the coming weeks. New perspectives or possibilities could be streaming in, and surprising avenues might open up through one of your partnerships. Keeping an open mind about what someone is bringing to the table may help you see the openings available at this time. Venus leaves the sign of Pisces at the beginning of May to enter Aries, which might make you also more aware of your commitments in the following weeks. You could be inclined to sacrifice some of your time and energy to keep the peace in your partnerships. However, you might also have to ensure that your personal needs are met to avoid pent-up frustrations down the road.

The Sun in Taurus perfects his conjunction with Uranus on the 4th and 5th, and this could bring new opportunities out of the blue at the end of the first week of the month. However, things could come to a standstill near May 8th as the First Quarter Moon in Leo shines a light on unconscious or hidden patterns, potentially bringing tension to the surface. You could feel as if a piece of the puzzle is missing, and this could keep you from fully launching yourself forward at this time. Trust your gut feeling, especially if something doesn't feel right, and wait until you have more information.

Mercury stations retrograde in Gemini on May 10th, signaling the beginning of a revision period that will take you to the beginning of June, which may be connected to your overall direction, career path, and, more extensively, what you want. It's your cue to assess the available resources and what kind of debt you are willing to take on in the coming months, whether these are financial or contractual. Jupiter enters Aries just as Mercury turns retrograde in Gemini, which brings a change of focus during the second week of May. Things could feel more personal and choices loaded with underlying responsibilities that you may or may not be willing to take on.

On May 15th, a Lunar Eclipse takes place in the sign of Scorpio, which may bring attention to complicated dynamics playing out in your partnerships that could put pressure on your schedule and other commitments. It could feel harder to communicate clearly, and you might have trouble getting your point across. You could secretly hope for others to anticipate your needs, or you may have a more challenging time formulating what you want into words. If possible, it may be easier to put negotiations on hold, especially if it doesn't seem to be getting anywhere. Mars in Pisces rules the eclipse Moon in Scorpio and is conjoined with Neptune in the days surrounding the eclipse, which brings a certain amount of idealization or disillusion depending on how you handle this aspect. Saturn in Aquarius is squared by the eclipse and this could bring a sharp contrast between what you hope for and what reality delivers at this time. It is possible to be realistic without losing faith or becoming cynical. Still, it may require that you accept yourself and others with all the quirks and idiosyncrasies that come with your experience.

On May 20th, the Sun's entry into Gemini will highlight your career, goals, and vocational trajectory in the following weeks. Mercury is still retrograde in Gemini and conjoins the Sun on the 21st. Mercury meeting the Sun is known as a "cazimi" in astrology and is understood as an essential marker in the Mercury Retrograde cycle. You may get an idea or see the path ahead more clearly in the days surrounding this aspect.

The weekend of May 20th could bring unforeseen support from a close collaborator, and you could start to see the benefits of teaming up with someone. Mars enters Aries on the 24th, which energizes the part of your chart that relates to shared resources and intimate partnerships in the weeks ahead. Benefits could come from your alliances as long as you are open to what others are bringing to the table. If a relationship is unbalanced, you may become aware of a significant power dynamic playing out as Venus in Aries squares Pluto in Capricorn during the last weekend of the month. Venus square Pluto could bring more intensity to an intimate relationship, which could be positive if both parties are mature enough to handle the energy honestly.

The New Moon in Gemini on the 30th signals the beginning of a new cycle for things related to your career and your goals. Your perspectives on the world and what's possible could be changing for the better at this time. You could feel restless with a need to transcend your limitations, and it may be a good time to break some of your own self-imposed rules. Venus also enters Taurus at the end of the month, which may bring a supportive influence for travel and learning until late June.
