This is another rather high-intensity month, Virgo. There are spiritual mechanisms involved that can make things to go better when you can accept the loss of total control and allow the universe to have its way. Depth exploration of your own inner world is on the table of significant factors, plus mutual understanding, as well as showing up for important others. Habitual patterns that have outlived their usefulness to you might need to be altered or eliminated. Your fierce internal values will have something to contribute also, and you might find yourself in a mode of balancing inner with outer, integrating your various parts. Intuitional information that defies pure logic on its own becomes ever more available and insistent as the month continues to unfold. Key junctures include the Scorpio Full Moon of the 12th, when communication is key; this is when you do well to articulate what’s truly on your mind, and in your heart, and when success blossoms in unexpected ways. The Moon’s Last Quarter on the 20th represents another powerful timing, when partnership breakthrough is possible along with career advancements, although perhaps each in their own separate way; it could also be said that more fully comprehended partnership agreements is the key to both.
The following was written by our wonderful in-house astrologer, Leslie Benson. You can find her at Astrology for Awakening.
The month opens under the continuing influence of the April 27th New Moon in Taurus, which initiated a new cycle in your ninth house of philosophy, exploration, and expansion. This lunation was marked by an intense fixed-sign T-square involving Pluto in Aquarius opposite Mars in Leo, both square to the New Moon position of Sun and Moon – activating deeper questions around how your beliefs shape your reality. You may find yourself navigating a transformation in your worldview or being called to release inherited ideas that no longer reflect your evolving truth. Whether through travel, educational self-study, or spiritual seeking, this is a time to tune in to what feels meaningful, and to listen for the call of growth that pushes your edges, and follow what brings you more into your embodied, somatic awareness. The rebellious planetary archetype of Uranus, planet of instinctual surprises and unexpected enlightenment, is elevated and highlighted in this New Moon and therefore affecting both philosophical understanding and career choices, which could therefore include a few curve balls over the course of this May month. You can make the best of this by entertaining intuitional information as potentially valid, and by staying as open as you can to the unexpected development. Perhaps you are meant to go with it; perhaps not. And yet the trick, perhaps, is not to pre-judge.
On May 2nd, Venus and Neptune meet in Aries in your eighth house of intimacy and shared resources, suggesting a profound and dreamy exploration of your inner landscape. Neptune’s recent entrance here signals the beginning of a ~14-year journey – one where emotional transparency, energetic awareness, and spiritual connection may become central themes in your closest bonds. This conjunction could bring softness and allure, but also the need to navigate boundaries with extra care. It’s a beautiful time to invite healing into spaces where you've felt guarded, or to seek out environments of trust and safety where you may allow yourself to be witnessed in your most tender layers.
Your ruling planet, Mercury, enters your ninth sector, Taurus, on May 10th, reinforcing themes of philosophical study, reflection, and spirituality. This time may ground your interest into a path of research or a project that’s been gestating, and you could feel called to seek out teachers or schools of thought that can provide guidance or fresh insight. This is less about rushing toward answers and more about opening to the slow unfolding of wisdom that reveals itself when you allow yourself space and time to ripen into understanding and embodiment at your own pace.
The Scorpio Full Moon on May 12th illuminates your third sector of communication, learning, and local setting. Mercury is square Pluto in Aquarius which brings a distinct sense of transformational intensity to your scene. There could be changes that you did not expect, or not understand to be crucial that prove to nevertheless have consequence and need handling. Change is hard to ignore, and will eventually prevail, so that it pays to remember that this is a normal process of interacting with life; that life itself is change. With the Moon opposing the Sun in close proximity to Uranus, this lunation may bring unexpected messages or a sudden breakthrough in how you understand yourself and the world around you. Perhaps a new and unexpected truth comes into focus, or an illuminating conversation clears the air. You may be learning to speak from the heart with greater courage – or to untangle yourself from thought patterns that keep you looping in anxiety or self-doubt. This significant juncture could be an opportune time to bring an extra dose of intentionality to your thought patterns and examine the ways in which your pre-existing beliefs and biases shape your reality.
On May 20th, the Sun moves into Gemini, highlighting your tenth sector of career and public roles. This shift brings visibility and momentum, as well as a sense of renewed purpose in the work you offer to the world. Your contributions may be more noticed now, and you might be asked to step into greater leadership or take a fresh approach to your long-term goals.
A major astrological shift arrives on May 24th, when Saturn enters Aries, joining Neptune in your eighth sector and beginning a slow alchemical process. This pairing, which travels within two degrees of one another through mid-September, asks you to get more intentional about the emotional and energetic investments you make. Saturn brings structure, boundaries, and responsibility, while Neptune brings dreams, mystery, and surrender. Together, they offer a longer-term opportunity to anchor your desires for deep, transformative connection into something sustainable, soulful, and True.
on May 26th, the New Moon in Gemini activates your tenth or career sector, forming a conjunction with Mercury and a trine to Pluto. This lunation invites you to plant seeds for a renewed relationship to your work, your visibility, and your long-term path. You may yearn for a deeper clarity about what you’re here to contribute, or a greater sense that your voice and ideas carry unique power. Let this be a time to reimagine your professional life in a way that honors both your natural gifts and your evolving sense of purpose.
After a first quarter of the year shaped by the retrogrades of all the inner planets, Mercury, which is your ruler, Venus, and Mars, you may have grown well acquainted with pauses, revisions, and the art of waiting. Now, as these planets retrace their paths forward, and the pace begins to pick back up, this May month brings to you the quiet sense of forward and consequential motion. What’s unfolding can still be tender and new, but there’s clarity beginning to surface in your thoughts, your routines, and your sense of direction. This month offers an invitation to integrate what you've learned, to listen closely to the intelligence of your body and intuition, and to align your outer actions with your inner truth. May your path ahead be paced with intention, grounded in discernment, and guided by the steady flame of your own quiet knowing.
