A New Moon of Transformation and Inner Recognition

Monday’s Gemini New Moon at 6° of the sign takes place in the evening, May 26th, at 8:02 pm PT, several hours later for the east coast and early morning next day for Europe and points east. One theme of the New Moon, in Gemini and with Gemini’s ruler, Mercury, at 2° Gemini, thus in a 4-degree conjunction, is communication, information, curiosity, and learning – and with much of the received information coming from intuitional sources within. The transformative energies of Pluto are also highlighted in this New Moon, with Pluto at 3° of Aquarius being trined by Mercury and the New Moon, sextiled by Saturn-Neptune, squared by the new 21st century nature planet Haumea, and lying in parallel to Jupiter. Dealings are challenging, and changing, and discernment is required to see things through to the most wholistic outcome. Partnerships are also a significant component of this New Moon, and of the events of the June month that follows, because both Venus and Mars are closely aspected by the New Moon and are trine each other, from Aries to Leo. For another important aspectual combination, Saturn, newly entered into Aries, is closely conjunct Neptune, which gains intensity through the summer months, before easing off a bit in the fall. This is all quite powerful, and echoes the polarities that we see all around us in the current zeitgeist and individually. More on these crucial aspects below.

Another major collision of shamanic planets that comes to exactitude in the timing of this New Moon is Chiron- Eris, both located at 25° 28’ of Aries. This collision of planetary archetypes that go to depth within the psyche has been building for many weeks, so that this New Moon’s moment of exact is not out of the blue. It is however highlighted by Jupiter in late Gemini and Uranus in late Taurus, so that something could be cresting like a hidden internal wave. This archetypal combination suggests that attention paid to early childhood wounding – and subsequent covering up – could have great import for you now, and pay tremendous benefits, long-term, in your quest for greater wholeness and authenticity. This references relief from internal pain and suffering as well as greater emotional integration in furtherance of your individual developmental cycle.

Saturn-Neptune is also quite interesting and has a relatively long shelf-life when you consider that their influence as an outer planet combination could extend to the 15-degree mark of separation, and thus until 2027, based on the research of Richard Tarnas on this subject, as published in his seminal work, Cosmos and Psyche. As what he terms a “world transit,” this combination of antithetical archetypes, one very physical, one entirely beyond the physical, is associated with deep polarization with the culture, wherein one side cannot see the point of view of the other whatsoever, believing that outlook to be nonsensical. This is certainly what we are seeing today, in US politics and around the world. If we take this to an individual level rather than that of the collective, there might be an internal conflict not easily resolved, where compromise is not really possible, and the only way forward is to create within yourself a unique and altogether different plan. The timing of this New Moon might therefore represent an important turning point leading to an entirely new phase of your evolution.

In assessing the impact of this New Moon, we don’t want to ignore the Pluto- Haumea square, which is currently also very active, being within 2° and triggered by Saturn-Neptune, as well as Sun, Moon, Mercury, and Mars. Research shows that this aspect, especially when triggered, seems to refer to lies exposed, the truth of a situation being revealed, including the misinformation frequently observed with politicians. In the thirty-day lunation cycle that follows this New Moon, including most of the June month, we might want to look for such occurrences of the actual truth coming to the fore.

All and all, this New Moon makes for a volatile, confronting, and passionate juncture, one providing important tests to our fortitude and requiring our being determined to stay the course according to what we understand deep within. In following along with what we truly believe is right for each of us individually, and for our world, we need to stay strong. We need to stick to this inner mandate no matter what assails it, speak our truth as it becomes possible to do so, and stay true to our inner vision. And when we do this, we cannot, in any way, fail.
