This month, Taurus – with the continuation of outer planet activations – is a month of evolving identity fed by the roller coaster astrology of recent months. The recent New Moon in your sign that governs most of May features a grand cross in Fixed signs indicated by the Sun and Moon at 7° in square to Mars at 4° of Leo, also to transformational Pluto at 3° of Aquarius, in close opposition to Mars, and with the new 21st century plant Haumea at 2° of Scorpio, in your opposite sign. This latter planetary archetype brings partners into the picture of your current astrology. These angular placements contribute vocational changes, issues of home and family, and shifts in your very sense of identity. The volatile Scorpio Full Moon of the 12th and the Moon’s Last Quarter of May 20th in the final degree of Aquarius are also quite telling. Saturn in Pisces and Uranus in your sign are greatly activated in their sextile, which speaks of the conflict between rule obeying and rule breaking, of commitment to your path and yet providing innovations to that idea, with a tight triple conjunction from the New Moon of Venus, your ruler, Saturn, for stability, and Neptune for adding a spiritual dimension to your sense of what you currently have going on. If this sounds like a lot, that’s because it is. You will want to be asking yourself which way is up, and where you need to go from here, or where, indeed, to seek escape from all the angst.

The month of May begins in the wake of the April 27th New Moon in your sign, which sets the tone for a very powerful new cycle centered on self-discovery, embodiment, and living in your authentic truth. This lunation featured a fixed-sign T-square involving Pluto in Aquarius and Mars in Leo, square the Sun and New Moon position in your sign. This configuration indicates a dynamic push-pull between your evolving sense of self, your private emotional world, and the pressures or transformations taking place in your public and professional life. Your ruler, Venus, conjunct both Saturn and Neptune, indicates a push-pull of another kid, between the physical 3D world of the here and now versus the mystical, beyond any trace of the physical. You may find yourself navigating intensity, yet also discovering insight, about how you wish to show up in the world but not of it, tuning in to the deeper values that guide your choices.
Venus, your ruling planet, has returned to Aries and on May 2nd joins Neptune in the mysterious, liminal space of your twelfth sector. Neptune has just begun its ~14-year journey through this Aries, marking a new era for your discovery of your intuitive abilities, and explorations of your subconscious. This ethereal pairing opens up a dreamy portal for spiritual reflection, imagination, and behind-the-scenes creative gestation. You may feel called to pay extra attention to your dreams or intuitive nudges – something subtle yet significant may be surfacing now, as you embark on this new chapter.
Pluto stations retrograde on May 4th in Aquarius, activating your tenth sector of career and public life. This, in addition to Pluto's prominence in the New Moon, could inspire deeper inquiry into the power dynamics at play in your work, career, or how you are more widely known in the world. This is a time when it may be helpful to allow space for change as you approach your work and ambitions. Notice what in this area of your life feels in alignment, or where you may be due for some adjustment.
On May 10th, Mercury enters your sign, supporting clearer communication, grounded understanding of self, and the articulation of your ideas. You may feel called to speak your truth, make plans, or bring more intention to how you express your identity.
The Full Moon in Scorpio on May 12th illuminates your relationship sector, potentially bringing partnership revelations or shifts. Opposing Uranus in your sign, this lunation could spark unexpected developments, spurring wild urges for freedom, or disruptions that initiate reorienting to dynamics in close connections. There may be an invitation to release old patterns of the way that you relate. With a continuing focus on internal realities, there might also be n occasion for inner wounding to come up, together with an invitation to explore such issues more completely, with the idea of greater acceptance of these somewhat rejected and hurt places within you, and hence greater healing. This may be an important time to be in a deeper listening for what is emerging inside you, and also within your relationships, in a way that might allow both parties to feel into a mutual sense of value, freedom, and shared understanding.
When the Sun enters Gemini on May 20th, the spotlight shifts to your second sector of values, money, and self-worth. This is a supportive time to review your finances, tend to your material security, or clarify what truly matters to you. You may also feel more curious about how your values are evolving and how they shape your everyday choices.
A major energetic shift arrives on May 24th as Saturn enters Aries, joining Neptune in your twelfth sector of dream imagination and unconscious process. The two planets travel close together through the summer fading, though still close, to just over two degrees by mid-September. This potent conjunction initiates a new long-term cycle of spiritual maturation and deep inner work. With Saturn’s sobering presence in this liminal space, you may be asked to bring more structure to your inner life, to commit to your healing, honor your solitude, and trust in the greater energies that shape our world. There's an invitation to cultivate discipline around the unseen: dreams, rituals, intuition, self-trust. What you build and foster internally can help form the foundation for the next chapter of your outer life. This slow devotion has the potential to build resilience from the inside out, as you tend to your inner world with consistency and compassion.
May wraps with a New Moon in Gemini on May 26th, landing in your second sector and closely tied to Mercury and Pluto. This lunation invites you to plant new seeds related to your values and resources, potentially with a more empowered or transformative mindset. There may be an opportunity to think differently about how you generate stability – emotionally or financially – and to align your actions with your evolving priorities.
Overall, the May month brings a transformational Plutonic intensity, and a rich blend of inner and outer work to your path, as you are called to plant your feet in both the tangible world, and the mysteries beyond our physical plane. You are asked to consider in equal measure your rational understanding and your intuitive knowing, and to clear out the noise and extraneous information that keeps you from sensing the wisdom of your inner compass. For you, Taurus, the path this month may involve some growing pains, and you may benefit from allowing yourself time and patience to dance with the metamorphosis, ultimately anchoring more fully into your own embodied intelligence, filled with resilience, integrity, and your unique brilliance.
