The Cancer New Moon of early Monday morning is another in the series of potent lunations that we have been seeing, in part due to the extreme contrast of Saturn-Neptune in square, and aspected by the Sun and Moon. Then, as well, both Uranus and Pluto are stimulated, implying that there is plenty of transformational pressure upon us as we head into what is sure to be an intense, divisive, and interesting summer period. With Sun, Moon, Mercury and Venus all in Cancer, this is a highly emotional time, now and setting the tone for the remainder of this thirty-day cycle, a period when everyone's feelings are right there, "on their sleeve," and in their facial expressions. Moreover, in this New Moon configuration a Grand Trine exists between Venus, Mars, and Chiron, the Wounded Healer, all in different Water signs, and this Grand Trine aspect pattern repeats throughout the month with slightly different players, most notably on Monday, July 11th and on Tuesday, July 19th with the Full Moon. With Chiron in this picture we might well find occasions when our inner wounding will arise in interpersonal contacts and hopefully be faced in a mature way; that is, with an understanding of its origin within oneself and with a powerful determination to become more comfortable and accepting of the walled-off parts of our own nature.
The emotions that we are feeling will appear to others, front and center for all to see. They say that misery loves company, and this well-worn phrase could also turn out to be true regarding strenuous efforts at spiritual evolution and self-love that we are likely to encounter in ourselves as this passionate month of July continues to unfold. With Chiron such an important part of this lunation, it is more than possible that we will get a boost in our ongoing efforts at better understanding what we are about, at the deeper layers of our being. Those situational conflicts that do come up can be informative and motivating, provided that you can maintain a good attitude. When you can resist the urge for pointing the finger away from your own part, and replace "you make me mad" with "I am triggered," then you will have gone a long way toward healing these issues within you, becoming more available for loving yourself and others.
Saturn-Neptune in collision implies that we are seeing the contrast, in the collective and in ourselves also, of rampant idealism, bordering at times on escapism, versus conservative push-back. On the other hand, we can continue to dream, and attempt to ground our dreams into reality in a positive way. Saturn will definitely make himself felt, either by nay saying, imposed restrictions and difficulties, or constructive criticism. Pluto is similarly highlighted in this New Moon, aspected by Venus, Mars and Jupiter, while Uranus and Eris remain in close conjunction to each other as well, emphasizing self-determination and sticking to our own plan for ourselves, no matter what, one that emerges from deep inside. We might be feeling the chaos of that triple of potent outer planet influences, and as well the freedom to innovate past previous levels.
As indicated by the 'birthday' of the United States occurring in this same timing, the New Moon is occurring directly on the U.S. Sun degree. This is a time of vast and comprehensive surprise, with Uranus/ Eris on national Mercury, and the coming Full Moon on the nation's Pluto, so that almost anything can and will happen. It is indeed an important time for the United States right now, as it is also for Europe. While certain factors might be dying, others are being re-born, and this last is a vitally important take-away from the current astrology. There is always plenty of room for hope, and for eventually obtaining positive outcomes.
The Sabian Symbol for this New Moon in the 13th degree of Cancer is quite interesting, being "One hand flexed, with a prominent thumb." This can be considered an emblem for a "thumbs-up" of positive intention, and, as well, a symbol for the will. Marc Edmund Jones remarks upon a person as being forced to either "rule his [or her] environment, or surrender [their] own potentialities forever... practicality brought to the point of ruthlessness." We might add that an implacable determination on the part of each one of us could prove to be exactly what is necessary now, as the astrological symbolism suggests. This is if we are to actually see our intention through, so that the values to which we collective aspire become implemented in the society that surrounds us. Otherwise we might as well give up the ship and allow impersonal forces, or faceless and dysfunctional institutions, to control our individual human destiny.
